Sanjana Prasad

Counseling Psychologist

I am a queer affirmative therapist and an intersectional feminist. Coming from a multicultural background, I take into account the different and complex aspects that play a role in solidifying one’s thought processes, emotions and personality. I am non directional in my approach to counselling, as I believe that my clients know themselves better than anyone else, and I provide a non judgemental and empowering space for my clients to discover themselves. I enjoy the ‘aha moments’ my clients have when they figure something out for themselves, and recognise that such moments of clarity and awareness facilitates healing in the most holistic way.

I take an integrated approach to counselling, borrowing from different theories and techniques that are tailor made for the client based on their needs. Some therapies I enjoy integrating into my practice are DBT, EFT and TA. I am grounded in the humanistic philosophy that focuses on empowerment and equality in the therapeutic relationship, through which I strive to collaboratively help my clients build a positive narrative for themselves.

In the past I have worked with clients in areas such as anxiety, relationship issues, emotional, sexual and physical abuse/trauma, emotional regulation, grief, work related concerns and depression.
